Dr Tim Coughlan is a Nephrologist/Consultant Physician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) based at Latrobe Regional Hospital.

He obtained his medical degree Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney followed by Advanced Trainee in Nephrology at Alfred Health, Monash Health and Eastern Health. His Locum Consultancy work has taken him to various locations, Mildura Base Hospital (Vic), Broken Hill Based Hospital (NSW), Grafton Based Hospital (NSW), Mercy Community Hospital (TAS), Southeast Regional Hospital (NSW), Launceston General Hospital (TAS). Tim currently holds an active VMO Position at Maryvale Private Hospital.

MBBS FRACP (Nephrology)

Dr Trung Quach is an experienced Consultant Nephrologist with multiple practice locations across Melbourne and Gippsland. He visits Maryvale Private Hospital as a VMO Nephrologist and is also involved in the after hours VMO on call roster.

After graduating in Medicine from the University of Western Australia, he subsequently undertook his specialist physician training at the Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. He attained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Nephrology) in 2011.

His main areas of specialisation include the management of hypertension, proteinuria, chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, dialysis and renal transplantation.

He has public hospital appointments at Monash Health and Latrobe Regional Hospital, where he consults in general nephrology, dialysis and renal transplant clinics. He also has private practices in Warragul, Maribyrnong and Springvale and is happy to be contacted at any time for advice or referrals.

Dr Pol completed his post graduate medical degree locally at Monash University in Churchill. He completed his basic physician training at Monash Health, he then went on to complete his advanced training in cardiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and MonashHeart. Derk is currently completing an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology at MonashHeart. Derk has an interest in general cardiology, acute coronary syndrome and hopes to one day provide an acute cardiac service for myocardial infarctions for regional patients, at Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Dr Pol has published peer reviewed research in both Australian and international journals in addition to presenting his work at national cardiology conferences.

Dr Pol practices at Maryvale Private Hospital, Latrobe Regional Hospital and MonashHeart – Monash Medical Centre.

Derk in his spare time likes to stay fit and active with running and cycling. He previously played for Yallourn North Football Club as an unexceptional ruckman. He also considers himself a bit of a “car”diologist and on the weekends can be found tinkering in the shed, on anything with a motor.

Dr Anthony Boers

Dr Anthony Boers loves the beauty of Gippsland and has a passion to support and care for Gippslanders. He lives with his family in Latrobe Valley and has worked in the region for over 15 years. Dr Boers established his Private Rheumatology Practice at Maryvale Private Hospital and extends his rheumatology health care to East Gippsland with clinic visits to Lakes Entrance and Orbost.

Dr Boers is a General Physician & Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Maryvale Private Hospital and Latrobe Regional Hospital. He has a keen interest in providing training and support to medical students and physicians in training at Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Gastroenterologist, Interventional Endoscopist and General Physician

Chris is a Gastroenterologist, Interventional Endoscopist and Specialist General Physician, holding Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Originally from Victoria, and with a strong desire to serve rural communities, Chris provides world-class medical expertise to Gippslanders, close to home.

After completing medicine in South Australia, Chris returned home to complete specialist training with Monash Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Warragul Hospital, Bendigo Hospital and The Austin, before completing sub-specialty endoscopic training at The Northern and the world-renown Victorian Liver Transplant and Australasian Intestinal Transplant Services based at The Austin. Chris has been extensively trained by world-leaders in interventional endoscopic techniques.

Chris offers general gastroenterology and endoscopy services, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy (Pill Cam), however has a special interest and sub-specialty training in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS).

Chris maintains an active general medical and extensive gastroenterology practice and will see all referrals, including patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Functional Gut Disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Liver Disorders and a vast array of general medical problems, including patients referred that require inpatient management at Warragul Hospital, Neerim South Hospital and Maryvale Private Hospital.

Chris strongly believes in offering patients a comprehensive and multidisciplinary specialist service. He strongly advocates for complete patient care that can be best achieved through collaboration with surgeons, physicians and allied health professionals working together in a cohesive single group.

Chris maintains an active teaching appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine with The University of Melbourne and Monash University, having published more than 25 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. During his spare time, Chris enjoys tending to his 80-acre beef cattle farm in Neerim South, with his partner, young son and baby daughter.

Dr Laura Selkrig

Laura is a Non-Interventional Cardiologist and partner of Gippsland Cardiology Services. Laura holds public appointments at The Alfred and Latrobe Regional Hospital. In addition to general cardiology, she has a special interest in valvular heart disease and heart failure. Having grown up in regional Victoria and undertook her medical training in Gippsland has been important to her professionally and personally to work regionally. Laura graduated from medical school in 2012 and was recognised for her academic achievement with presentation of the AMA Award. Laura completed basic Physician training at The Alfred and was fortunate enough to receive the Alfred Health Integrity Award in 2014. Laura completed specialist training and undertook an Echocardiography Fellowship at The Alfred.

Laura is excited to be able to provide a local echocardiography service in the Gippsland region including stress echocardiography and transoesphageal echocardiography.
